Vicky's Story
My story is not unique in that thousands of mental health consumers are recovering from the debilitating affects of a mental illness. With the help of new and better medications, people are living in the community instead of mental institutions.
My life did not start until 1992, when my doctor put me on Clozaril at the age of 33. Without the medication I would not have been able to accomplish the things I have in the past six years. Last May, I graduated from Wichita State University with a BA in psychology, with honors. Breakthrough Club was instrumental in my success and I still look to the education department to support me while I am in the Masters program in the School of Social Work. Without the support from Breakthrough Club, I would not be where I am today. If I was to lose my support, I hate to think where I would end up.
